SHA-256

The Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA) is a cryptographic function used to generate a hash. By comparing a calculated result with the expected value it is possible to confirm data integrity. SHA-256 is a 256-bit hash, which gives a 32-byte character length. The size of the input can vary but the result will be 256-bit. For example the hash value for ‘Secure Hash Algorithm’ is: 42cf1ce9880d7f211c3d30d3bd376d20b26aaf6a929471108025c8e99b751c89.
